Week 62 (October 27, 2014)

Family,

This week was SUPER good!!! It has been raining a ton down here!!! A tropical storm passed through this week and drenched us haha. Also another young man opened his mission call this week! It is so cool to see the youth down here open up their calls.

We had a super good week this week. We actually had some very special experiences. Like we had planned we were able to put a date with Minerva. After a little bit of time and a lot of patients, we were able to help her overcome her doubts and finally put a date. 15 Nov.
Sunday one of our new investigators came to church. David. We were also able to pull him aside and teach him a lesson. We started teaching him Lesson 3. We left him with homework to read 3 Nephi 11 when we asked him about it he started explaining in depth the chapter. He got to the part where he said Nephi was called forth and given the power to baptize. Our investigator really liked that part. So we decided to talk more about the baptism. Long story short he really enjoyed the lesson and when we asked him to be baptized he got really excited and said yes.  We now have him set for the 8th of November.
This week in our companion practices we focused our efforts on trying to solve a problem that one of our investigators is having. Edwin is a young man that has been assisting the church for about 1 year now, but hasn’t yet been baptized. He never wanted to tell us why either. So we decided to focus on him this week in our studies and practices. Yesterday we were able to pull him aside after church and talk with him.  We started by teaching him about baptism and after a while of talking with him we started asking him all kinds of questions. We started using what we learned in the District class about helping them with their doubts. We were able to have a wonderful lesson with him. Using many instances from the life of Jesus Christ. It was a very spiritual lesson. I am so thankful for the time we took to focus on him this week. We still don’t have a date but WE KNOW that he will have the desire to be baptized. He told us that no other missionary has explained to him baptism like that and was very thankful.
I feel really blessed this week for all that has happened. I know that the Lord helps us as long as we do the things he or his servants ask. We hope to have Edwins baptism date this week
I added some photos with Edwin in here. And also some other youth from the ward. Things are going so well down here.

The other photo is a huge fruit that some member bought down here. Ha-ha It was so big!

Talk to you next week

Week 61 (October 20, 2015)

Family,
First off I would just like to state that my gun was found present in Zacks photo therefore I claim part of the luck Zack used to get that deer! hahaha CONGRATS ZACKY!!!!!!! I am super proud to be the big brother of such a stealthful killer. I don’t doubt his skill with all the neighbors birds dead thanks to their practicing in the back yard hahah ;)
This was a terrible week haha. We could not find a soul in their house this week. And to make everything better a cold front swept in this week leaving us soaking wet everyday hahaha. So much walking that I now have another ingrown toenail ugh!!!!!! But hey next week will be better :)
My new companion is great! He is a new elder that is here in his 2nd area. I am his first American companion. We get along so well!!! He is another Mexican elder. “Mexican elders left and 2 more came hahaha so we are in the same situation again.
My favorite part about this transfer is that this new elder has the new missionary spark! He is very excited to work, that has helped me a lot!!  We have been working a lot with the inactives this week. We were able to find a whole bunch of new people to teach. I like working with the less actives because at one point in their lives they have felt the spirit and it is super cool to help them feel the spirit once again. So this week we focused on helping the less active. We hope to have a better week this week.

Take care! I love you all a ton.

Week 60!!!!! (Oct. 13, 2104)

This week was transfers. I will be staying here while my companion goes to a new area. I am now here with an Elder that just barely started his mission. I am like his 3rd or 2nd companion. (still don't have a photo with him.) So I will stay here as a Senior companion again. This week was super good because we finally got our district shirts. hahaa they look so good. I am proud because it was my design. haha.

We had a zone class this week which was super good by the way. We were able to learn a little more to be able to better our teaching. This week was a little slower because the companion i was with is about to finish his mission and really had no desire to work. So we weren't able to do much. But now I am super excited
because my new companion is super excited to start working and so am I.

We cleaned our whole house this week as you can see from the photos. We took everything out of our house 1 by 1 and scrubbed it down. You should be very proud mother hahaha. But hey it looked so good after. It actually changed alot from how it was before.
I am not sure if this in the clean or the messy??
I really enjoy this district that I just had we were able to have alot of fun together. Actually we put our mattresses in their house and slept there all last week ahaha. My companion and 1 from their area left. And now 2 more Mexicans came hahaha i am going to be the only white guy amongst pure Mexicans yet again hahah. seriously though our district was like the best!!! The sisters were so cool too hahaha they were like our best friends. (i added a photo)
As far as Edwin. He still has not made the decision yet to be baptized, but it think he is getting there. I hope and pray that the Lord will bless him and that he will make the right decision.

We were able to visit one of our more difficult investigators this week. We decided to talk about baptism, so after a long SUPER COOL lesson she finally accepted to be baptized. It was the coolest thing. Now we are just working on putting a date. She feels she is not ready and so we are helping here feel more ready haha

That is really all that happened this week. I hope that with this new transfer we will be able to start from new and be able to find a whole lot more people

Week 59 (Oct. 6, 2014)

Hi,
We had an after conference BBQ! It was so great. We were able to find BBQ sauce here!!! Thank goodness I'm in a big city, the only thing missing was the Mountain Dew but Hey still good anyways with coke. The conference was super good. I’ll be honest I'm really missing the after priesthood ice cream runs Dad :(. But hey next October we will do it.

I like how the Conferences are changing so much. It was the biggest surprise when they talked in their native tongue. The members here were so happy to have one without a translator. I really don't like the translators voice.  It was cool to be able to hear a talk in Spanish and understand 100%, even cooler that it came from conference.

It has been really hot down here lately. Me and my companion have been sleeping outside in our hammocks haha with the fan. I'm really digging the hammock thing, Mexico is so cool.
This week we needed more investigators, so we started asking the sisters if they knew anyone we could teach. We were able to find 4 new investigators they are part of 2 families!!! We are excited to help them. Our investigator Edwin had an interview with Pres. Morales first counselor. He is ready for baptism but we are just waiting for him to say yes. He is the coolest investigator. He has really become like one of my greatest friends in the mission. I hope he decides soon.
The transfers are next week! People are starting to get sad because I have some time on this area and they don't want me to leave. But hey we will see what happens. You will probably get a lot of photos next week.
I love you all so much and hope you are all good!

Week 58 (Sept. 29, 2014)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ZACK!!! I HOPE YOU HAD A GOOD BIRTHDAY LITTLE BUDDY!!!!! I LOVE YOU SOOO MUCH!!!
This was a super interesting week! This week we had interviews with President Morales. We talked a lot about baptism and why they are important but more importantly he explained the importance of having new investigators. He focused on explaining to us the importance of contacting and reminded us of the 2 effective contacts we should be doing daily. I was super happy because the assistance loved my planner haha. They said that they are going to copy me from now on haha. It made me laugh. So this week me and my companion worked hard to get those two contacts every day. Actually I was talking to my companion one night and I asked him
"Elder what do you think about contacting?" He told me straight up that he doesn't like it and that he wasn't going to do it haha. He’s a little rebellious thing haha. So I worked really hard this week contacting the whole world. We were able to find 2 new investigators this week. I really want to prepare this area for the next elder because the transfers are in 2 weeks and I might be the one to go.

Remember that family that I told you about. The one that just moved here from another state? We activated them!!! The oldest daughter (the faithful one) has been attending seminary every day. We always run into her on her way back home and we walk with her.

We had a pretty neat experience yesterday. We walked into church after having one of the hardest days in all of my mission and found that one of the members brought a friend with them. So we took the opportunity to teach him the first lesson. We taught him with President Matas (president Morales’s 1st counselor). We had a super powerful lesson. He ended up telling the member that we almost made him cry haha. He really liked it.

Like I said tonight we had a setting apart. His name is Javier. He is one of the youth here in this area. He is so cool he is like one of my best friends down here haha he was set apart tonight and wanted us to come. I will send you a photo of us. That was a cool experience.
I hope everyone is fine back home! Tell Brennan hi for me!!

Love y'all!!!

Look what he gets to do in my bathroom when he gets home!! YIPEE!!

Week 57 (Sept. 22, 2014)

A quote he sent in his email!

Hello,

Dang that makes me sad to hear that Josh is home. I hope everything goes well for him. This week here was a little strange. Our ward is so great and some of the members are so friendly but the wards here are so hard. The church is nothing like back home here. In this ward really there is no love. There is like a war going on between some of the member in the ward and it makes our work even harder. For a while we were in the middle of it, but now we aren't really part of it. So we are just working with the bishop, helping him in any way we can without putting our self in the middle of it.

As far as our investigators. Edwin is still doing great. We are slowly getting him to his baptism. And Saul thanks to the ward problems we are having some little issues with him as well. But hey I really feel like we will get them there so there is no need to worries. This week really was just another of those week. I am starting to notice that the best part of this mission is the way that i am growing closer to my savior. Really my desire to learn more has increased so much. To the point that I study every doctrine about him. Really most the things that can be learned on the mission are so indescribable. But really I can see the way that the gospel can bless the life of people and it makes me so happy to be a part of that.

Take Care!! Love you all!!

Week 56 (9/15/14)

Family,

HAPPY MEXICAN INDEPENDENCE DAY!!!! VIVA MEXICO!!! Things are starting to get crazy again down here in Mexico haha. We are now starting the party time of the year!!
We made the brownies Tuesday after the district class. We decided to do it after the district class so the sisters could be with us too. It was so fun. After we frosted them, that is where the photos come in. Sis. Hernandez put her hand in the frosting then hand printed my face haha well and hers -a little- then she wanted to take a photo so we took a little photo. Our district is so cool!!

The brownies we sent for his Birthday!!

We are going to make district shirts haha. It has been raining a ton this week! It flooded a little bit here this week, but all is well. On the missionary side. This was an interesting week. We are continuing to look for new investigators and to help the ones we have the best that we can. Our investigator Saul is becoming more and more difficult. He tries to escape the appointments we have planned with him. I feel like if we just keep trying maybe he will come around to accepting us a little more. The good part though is that we have an active family in the ward that is helping us by inviting him to their family home evenings. The only problem is that this family really doesn't want to work with us. But hey looking on the bright side I know if we put our trust in the Lord he will make miracles happen.
We found a super cool new investigator this week. His name is Edwin. He is a young man about our age that has assisted the church alot back where he lives. He loves the church. He now lives here on the weekends and has already been to church 2 times. We are trying to set a date with him but there is something that is stopping him and he wont tell us what it is. We worked hard and found some friends here in the ward for him and is slowly opening up to us. We have also been using him to help teach with us. We hope to have him in the water as well by the end of this week.
As well as our other investigators. They are progressing very slowly but are still progressing.

As you can see all is going great down here. Thanks for all your love and support. Hope ya have a wonderful week!! Love yall!
