Week 75 (Jan. 26, 2015)

Fam,

This week was the interviews with president. You know what that means. Long lessons hahah. They were actually pretty good. This year we are focusing on lesson 2 The plan of Salvation. It was actually some super good practices. We also focused on how to invite people to baptism better. We now are able to easily get a baptismal date out of our investigators. We also have been focusing on how to teach the active members and get references out of them using the new cards they have given us. It is a very successful way of getting good references from our members.

The interviews were funny because the night we were supposed to do them president never showed up so it just ended up being a training meeting with the assistants. So we had to go back the next day to have the actual interviews. They went really well, it was nice to be able to talk to president.

This week we worked really hard on contacting all the references we have. We were able to find 8 new investigators this week!! 2 families. They seem really excited. Actually one of them is like our neighbors.

We are still working with jaqui with her baptismal date! She is so excited! We are going to baptize her on her birthday!! I’m getting really pumped too because February 14 is coming up and here in Mexico the people get married free on that day, so we are going to take advantage and marry some other people!!

As far as my release date. I still do not know. Apparently president extended all the American Elders so if that’s the case I will be coming home August 3. But I will see what happens.

Love you all so much!!!

Week 74 (January 19, 2015)

Family,

This will officially be the last time I miss your guy’s birthdays!!!!! So HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD!!!! I hope you have a wonderful day!!!
I didn’t have any time to write last week because my companion had to leave and they don’t really notify us early so we were running around at the last minute.
We did a lot of transfers this week. We also worked a ton this week. We contacted like crazy. We have all these apartment complexes in our area, we just went out one day and contacted them all. Well not all of them, but a bunch. We actually found this guy contacting and we found out that he is inactive member. We also found out that his wife is not a member. So we gave him a new contacting card we are using so that he could go home and look at the video. He sent us a text later that night and thanked us for what we did. He said that God definitely sent us because he has been going through some trials in his life.
We have a baptism coming up soon!! Jaqui is ready to be baptized, we are going to baptize her on the 7th!! We are also working with 3 more that are probably going to be baptized here pretty soon!!!!!

That is all from Mexico!! I miss you all a ton. Love you!!!

Week 72 (January 5, 2015)

Fireworks!! Happy New Year!!
Look at the sticker! BYU
A hat connected to a backpack!!
Oh how I want to go in!!
HAPPY NEW YEARS!!! Ya it is officially 2015!!!! Wow! Time is flying by like super quick. Another good old week here in beautiful Mexico! And like last year, TONS OF FIREWORKS! New years is literally like the 4th of July back home haha. So of course we bought a whole bunch of fireworks and lit them off. It was super fun. We were invited to quite a few parties. We were able to go to a few, but not all of them. So we partied hard with the members and we lit off fireworks with them.

Then we came home and waited until 12 o clock. That is when the people here burn their ´`oldies`` I don’t know if you remember that from last year but the oldies are life sized grass dolls they make that are dressed like old people and filled with ton of fireworks. At like 11:30 everyone starts to dance with their oldies and then at 12 everyone goes out and burns them. For like half an hour straight everything is just blowing up, everywhere you look there is an explosion. It is like literally the funniest thing ever. I will show you all the video when I get home.

As far as the missionary side is concerned. This week was super slow!! Because we are in like a little town, everyone left on vacations. So this whole week there was like no one home. So this week was a little bit slower but the next week will be better.

Also today was transfers!! I will be staying here in Olmeca, but my companion left and now I am here with another one. His name is E. Navarro, yes he has the same name as one of my x companions but he is a different one. I am excited to get back to work again.!! So I guess we will see what happens.

I love you all soooo much! Have a wonderful week!!!

Week 70 (12/22/14)

Having lunch with his district (Notice Briton L. right above Hunter)

FELIZ NAVIDAD on my part. I can’t believe Christmas is coming up. I’ll be honest it just doesn’t feel like Christmas when I’m still sweating. I’m starting to miss the whole white Christmas thing. The Christmas music doesn’t really help either. It’s good to see that everything is going so well back home. It kinda bums me out that I am missing all the Weddings, because I really don’t know what a wedding is like, but hey I’m pretty sure I will see some back home right hahaha. This was kind of a depressing week because the investigator that we were going to baptize never showed up to his interview or church so we didn’t have a baptism this week :(.

Now I must explain our Christmas devotional with president because it was SO COOL.
Thursday we woke up early, well normal, and headed to the stake center. There we met the other zone (2 zone activity). Then we went to a local orphanage. I’m about 78% sure I spelled that wrong. So we get there and start heading off to our assigned areas. 1 district was in charge of bathrooms and 3 others were in charge of cleaning the floor levels (there were 3) and my district was in charge of painting! The best one. And while all of us elders were working hard the sister were busy playing with the children. Typical. Let me just say that we painted the heck out of the orphanage.  No matches for me I painted like half of that building. I was on fire. Everyone was like cheering me on and stuff. It was a pretty neat experience to be able to help all those kids that really don’t have anything. We were able to bring them Christmas. That was probably an activity that I will never forget!!! After we had a dinner in the stake center and president gave us our gifts which were super cool as well.

We also had a super cool branch Christmas party this week. Of course we were in charge and they told us at the last minute like always. I will be honest it was pretty dang cool though. We had a ´share the gift´activity. We showed the He’s the gift videos to everyone and then they all filled out a little card that says ``I will share the gift by....`` then we took photos to make like a poster.

This was a pretty good week. Also I decorated the house super cool!!! Thanks for the little tree and little lights. I love little things Hahaha.

As for our skype chat. I will be calling you guys at 6:00 here SO THAT MEANS 5:00 PM YOUR TIME. I put it in big letters to avoid confusion.
Love ya’ll so much! Talk to ya Thursday!!

Week 69 (Dec. 15, 2014)

Well fam another wonderful week here in Mexico. Things are getting pretty crazy down here with Christmas and all. Christmas here is like 4th of July back home. Right now the time they are selling fireworks :) I’m getting pumped.
So I really don’t know what is going to happen with the wedding because Oscar still hasn’t come home yet. So we will see what happens. We are going to have a baptism this weekend, so that makes me pretty happy!!!!
This week we had a super cool district activity. We had like a Christmas devotional in the stake center. It was super fun. haha our branch was in charge of the parking lot and since no one showed up we pretty much were left to do it by ourselves haha it was fun, we just ended up contacting people as they walked by haha.

I got to run,  but I love you all a ton!!
